Q: What Is PSYCH-K®?

A: PSYCH-K is a unique and direct way to identify and change subconscious beliefs that perpetuate old habits and behaviors that you would like to change. It is a simple process that helps you communicate with your subconscious mind so you can change beliefs that sabotage your self-esteem, relationships, job performance and even your physical health!

Q: How Did PSYCH-K® Come To Be?

A: Robert M. Williams M.A. is the originator of PSYCH-K®. Rob’s lifelong exploration of human potential, combined with his 14 year background in business management, provides the foundation for his imaginative yet results oriented approach to personal growth.

Rob received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Masters Degree in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Colorado. He has spent many years studying natural healing practices from around the world.

PSYCH-K® was inspired by a variety of processes, some contemporary and some ancient. It deals with the part of the mind called the subconscious, which is capable of creating dramatic and lasting changes quickly and easily.

Q: How Does PSYCH-K® Work?

A: PSYCH-K® is a unique process evolving from years of split-brain research and hundreds of sessions with individuals and groups. It creates a receptive state of mind that dramatically reduces the resistance to change at the subconscious level. The subconscious mind can be accessed in a way similar to a personal computer. PSYCH-K® works like a "mental keyboard" - a user-friendly method of communicating with the subconscious mind that is simple, direct and verifiable.

Q: How Does PSYCH-K® Differ From Other Self-Help Techniques?

A: PSYCH-K® differs from other modalities in a variety of ways. While all modalities have value, there are important differences that make a difference. These differences are addressed in Chapter 7 of "PSYCH-K® …The Missing Piece (Peace) In Your Life." The main differences are:

* One very important feature of all PSYCH-K processes is the Permission Protocol. Many self-help techniques simply assume it is a good idea to “fix” a problem without first considering the possibility that the problem may be cleverly disguised as an opportunity to learn an important life lesson. By hastily killing the messenger, you may lose the message and miss the lesson! PSYCH-K also offers a streamline way to learn the life-lesson of a problem so we can quickly move beyond it.
* A goal of PSYCH-K is to assist the individual in becoming a unified consciousness by its unique way of addressing the conscious, subconscious and superconscious mind.
* PSYCH-K uses (kinesiology) muscle testing to communicate with the subconscious mind. It is a binary code, either true/false or yes/no.
*PSYCH-K uses techniques based on left/right brain integration to reduce resistance to internalizing the new and desired idea or belief.

And one final point: PSYCH-K is a vehicle for change. It's like a car, it doesn't decide where you should go, it just gets you there. In other words, PSYCH-K doesn't choose what you should believe. It helps you believe what you choose.

Q: What Is Muscle Testing and How Does It Work?

A: Muscle testing was brought to the U.S. and developed over 40 years ago by George Goodheart, D.C. (the originator of Applied Kinesiology). In PSYCH-K, muscle testing is used as an easy and effective way to communicate directly with the subconscious portion of the mind. The subconscious mind controls the autonomic nervous system and is responsible for our automatic physical and neurological functions, ie: reaching for an object. The strength of the electrical signal to the muscle is affected by what kinds of thoughts are being contemplated in the mind. When the mind is holding a stressful thought, the signal strength to the body is reduced, resulting in a weakened muscle response. Consequently, muscle testing can be used to determine what thoughts are stressful to the body, as well as what ideas (beliefs) are supported or not supported at the subconscious level.

Q: What Is A PSYCH-K® Balance?

A: A PSYCH-K® Balance is a technique designed to create balanced communication with both hemispheres of the brain. This "whole-brain" state is ideal for reprogramming the subconscious mind with new positive beliefs that support your goals rather than sabotage them!

Q: Is There Scientific Information About PSYCH-K®?

A: Yes. The DVD, The Biology of Perception, The Psychology of Change, produced by Cellular Biologist, Dr. Bruce Lipton and Robert Williams, founder of PSYCH-K®, offers a logical and scientific way to understand these new innovative ideas. This DVD is included in the Basic PSYCH-K® workshop. (click on Bruce Lipton to go to his website)

Q: How Can Beliefs I’ve Had For Years Change In Just A Few Minutes With PSYCH-K®?

A: Most people think of negative beliefs as if they were actually people in their head trying to make their life miserable! It’s the same way people tend to think of word processing documents stored in a computer as a ‘little tiny document.’. Of course this is not how it is. Both the software in a computer and the beliefs in a person’s memory are patterns of energy held in an electromagnetic field. A pattern of energy held in a computer for 30 years can be altered or deleted just as quickly as a pattern that has been in the computer for 30 minutes! So it is with the mind. It is all about how to alter the pattern, not about how long the pattern has been there. The Subconscious Mind is sensory based and responds much better to nonlinear rituals for change. PSYCH-K balances are nonlinear rituals for change and enable individuals to access the subconscious with far greater success than the more typical cognitive/rational approach.

Q: Do I Have To Re-experience The Painful Feelings Of The Past To Release Them?

A: Most mainstream psychotherapy assumes that tapping into emotions is a prerequisite to meaningful change. PSYCH-K doesn’t make the same assumption. It has been our experience that when the subconscious mind has to access an emotion to change a belief it will.

Q: How Can PSYCH-K® Help Me?

A: Your subconscious beliefs establish the limits of what you can achieve. If your life feels like a car being driven with one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake, chances are you have a conflict between your conscious goals and your subconscious beliefs. This kind of conflict shows up in relationships, job performance, self-esteem, athletics, weight loss, prosperity, even your physical health.

Q: Can PSYCH-K® Help My Practice?

A: Definitely! PSYCH-K can help in many ways. PSYCH-K® offers practitioners in healing professions a unique way to help their clients make lasting changes in their life. PSYCH-K® is compatible and works integrally with other healing modalities. PSYCH-K® is very accessible working with children and young adults who are not comfortable with talk therapy. Some of the people in the healing professions who have taken PSYCH-K® workshops include psychotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, medical professionals, nurses, doctors, midwives, life coaches, energy healers and clergy.

Q: Why Haven't I Heard Of PSYCH-K® Before?

A: Until 1997, Rob was the only person teaching PSYCH-K®. Now there's a growing number of hand picked Certified Instructors personally trained by Rob Williams. In short, you'll be hearing a lot more about PSYCH-K® in the future!
